SouthAmerica: I guess John Boltonâs conversation with the other members of the UN that are not armed with nuclear weapons went something like this: Our country can have nuclear weapons and long-range missiles, and we even can test new nuclear devices if we want to, but if you try to develop it on your country then you are an immediate threat to humanity.
By the way, the US tested two atomic bombs in Japan (Hiroshima and Nagasaki) instead of doing an underground test - and I can tell you that when you drop one of these devices on top of a city full of innocent people (senior citizens, children, women, and other collateral damage) the test went very well and we were able to kill a lot of people â on our particular tests we were able to kill over 200,000 people with two single Boooooooommmms.
I ask you members of the UN to go along with me on these sanctions against North Korea because the US needs to protect our turf on the nuclear weapons area and we want to maintain our weapons advantage against other countries and also be able to threat any other country with nuclear weapons even if that country is not armed with nuclear weapons.
It is ironic, but - in a nutshell - that is what the United States is asking the other countries to go along with US at the United Nations regarding the UN sanctions against North Korea.
I believe the new UN resolution will be called: âUS resolution - Please keep me as the biggest bully on the block.â

âMain points of draft UN resolution on North Koreaâ
(AFP) - 13 October 2006
Khaleej Times - UAE
UNITED NATIONS - The UN Security Council is set to vote on Saturday on a draft resolution calling for wide-ranging sanctions against North Korea over its declared nuclear test. Here are the main points of the draft text:
- Acting under Article 41, Chapter Seven of the UN charter, the UN Security Council âcondemnsâ the nuclear test announced by North Korea on October 9 which was in âflagrant disregardâ of earlier UN resolutions.
The Council views the test as a âclear threat to international peace and security.â
The 15-member Security Council demands North Korea refrain from any further nuclear test or launch of a ballistic missile, return to the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and eliminate its nuclear weapons and nuclear programme, and other weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programmes, âin a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner.â
- The Council âcalls upon DPRK (North Korea) to return immediately to the six-party talks without precondition.â
- All member states shall prevent the direct or indirect supply, sale or transfer to North Korea of:
- any battle tank, armoured combat vehicles, large calibre artillery systems, combat aircraft, attack helicopters, warships, missiles or missile systems or related materiel;
- all items, materials, equipment, goods and technology which could contribute to North Koreaâs nuclear-related, ballistic missile-related or other weapons of mass destruction-related programmes;
- luxury goods;
- All member states shall âfreeze immediatelyâ the funds, other financial assets and economic resources that are owned or controlled, directly or indirectly, by persons or entities engaged in or providing support for North Koreaâs nuclear, other weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile-related programmes.
The Security Council may decide that exceptions to the freeze on financial assets may be allowed for âextraordinary expensesâ or âbasic expenses,â including payment for foodstuffs, rent, mortgage, medicines and medical treatment, taxes, insurance premiums, public utility charges or for legal or other services associated with the maintenance of frozen funds.
Financial assets associated with a judicial, administrative or abitral lien or judgment may also be exempted from the freeze on assets and economic resources, subject to the Security Councilâs review.
- All member states shall take steps to prevent the entry into or transit through their territories of those persons, together with their family members, designated as being responsible for -- including through supporting or promoting -- North Koreaâs policies in relation to its nuclear, ballistic missile and other weapons of mass destruction related programmes.
Exceptions to the travel ban may be justified for âhumanitarian need,â including religious obligations, or where the Security Council concludes that an exemption would otherwise further the objectives of the present resolution.
- All member states shall take cooperative action, âincluding through inspection of cargo to and from North Koreaâ to prevent illicit trafficking in nuclear, chemical or biological weapons, their means of delivery and related materials.
- All member states are to report to the Security Council within 30 days of adoption of this resolution on the steps taken to implement the provisions calling for preventing the sale or supply to North Korea of arms and of items that related to its nuclear, ballistic missile or other weapons of mass destruction programmes.
- The Security Council will establish a committee, comprised of representatives from each Council member state, to oversee the implementation of the resolution, examine alleged violations, consider requests for exemptions to sanctions, determine additional items to be banned and promulgate guidelines to member states.
