It doesn't really matter who will be the next President because his/her hands will be tied.
1. If the national debt continues to increase at the rate projected by the GAO and interest rates return to historical averages, the annual cost of interest on the national debt will increase from 6% of the federal budget in 2012 to 25% of the budget by 2023.
2. In the 1960's, a four dollar expansion of federal credit resulted in one dollar of real economic growth. Today it takes over twenty dollars of federal credit expansion to produce one dollar of real economic growth. The effect of federal monetary/credit policy is rapidly approaching zero as a result of the Fed flooding the system with trillions of cheap money dollars.
There will be very little the next President can do because: (a) the budget will be terminally constrained by the national debt, and (b) the real economic effects of marginal federal monetary/credit policy will be close to zero.
The next Presidential election will look a lot like two candidates fighting to be named Captain of the Titanic.

IMO the OP of her being a formidable candidate is correct, but it is not set in stone she will win.
The GOP will have to do a lot of restructuring to compete. The first thing they need to do is jettison guys like Rove and Coulter and Hannity - an old deck of cards dealing a lost hand - and everybody knows it.
I wouldn't want see another Clinton or Bush in high office just on principle. The age of Monarchy is supposed to be over.

Not sure how Hannity and Coulter fit into your assessment since they are nothing more than pundits, but Rove...absolutely agree.
As I stated, I think the fact that Hillary is even in politics is a reflection of the decay occuring in this country. What the hell did she ever do except tag along an up and coming politician (no pun intended)? She stood be her man. Big fucking deal. Yet the libs made her a queen. Tells me much about the left.
He was still a better pick. He could sell what Hillary couldn't. Just the fact that he drew conservative votes is proof. Add to that the fact that if any agendas were challenged, the lapdog media, left wingers in politics, and all the left wing useful idiots could cry "racists" regarding those opposing. We have certainly seen that card played over and over and over and over...better to cry "racist" than "chauvinist", making him the better choice in that regard.
He was a far superior pick than Hillary could ever have been on many levels. That said, the electorate gets dumber by the day (ever seen "Idiocracy"?). She might just win. Especially since the Republican Party believes the propagandists of the left regarding conservatism...especially that fucking genius Rove (sarc off). What's his win rate? Something like 1.5%.
