No wonder CA is broke, thanks unions!

Quote from cgroupman:

Unions were created to help level the playing field between management and labor. They served that purpose pretty well. But, as in most bureaucracies, they outgrew their function. After negotiating with management for several decades, the unions themselves began to dictate policy, especially wage and benefit policy, and became something akin to what they were trying to eliminate. Thus the underdog became the 'overdog' as it were.

In today's world of instant and constant communication, I think we see many examples of proper negotiations between labor and management without the need for, especially 'mandatory' union membership.

Quote from Spiker:

luke , did you belong to any airline pilot's union?
No, in fact all that union non sense is one of the several reason I was never attracted to the airlines.

Quote from cgroupman:

AOPA? Maybe?

Not really a union in the normal sense. I'm wondering too.

Answered above.

AOPA, no.

EAA, yes.

I had the idea to implement a website where people could rate the companies they have worked for. Any thoughts on that?

I'd love to have a resource like that were I jobhunting. Quality employers would benefit and workers would benefit by knowing what they were getting into.

Employment could be verified and posters identity could be verified by my site but kept private.

Talk to an attorney about how to control your liability if anyone should post negative untruths about a company. Usually, the liability is on the poster but it depends upon how you set up your ratings and information.
