I will take any high school student nationality over you. Apparently, "education was all lost on you...
Europe, chronic high unemploment and uncompetitive.
Japan, as they say "the nail that sticks up wil be pounded down." - bunch of conformists. US kids beat them 6 ways to Sunday on entrepreneurial and inventive skills.
China, city maybe. But what about the 800 million chinese stuck in rural poverty? And a government that still controls things like what websites you can view or how many kids you should have
China city ? what more do you need, keeping in mind their population size

Public Education? yes and no!
No for the education in the classes but Yes for the education on the streets and households.
US needs to change its culture of hiding the faults and even encouraging them and deny the mistakes and issues that have taken a near monstrous shape.
Course books remain the same but it is the culture of the people that matters.
For how long do we remember the topics crammed and hard learned in the course books. After one semester only 20% tops remains in the memory. So it is not course books but ethics and culture are more important and US was good in these before and is sliding rapidly now and is paying the price of not attending to the real issues.
