No sympathy for country music fans

Dude, it's not even close to the same thing and you know it. About the only thing similar is that they were both exercising Free Speech, and I defend both of their rights to do so.

However, if you say something like that, and your job is reporter, you can expect your company to take issue with it. Google also had the right to take issue with their employee's comments (which were not even in the same universe as the CBS reporter's). And the public has the right to judge accordingly.

The question isn't the employees right to free speech (no one is denying that in either case) but the employers right to terminate that employee for their comments. Google got a lot of heat from the right. Will CBS?

I'm trying to understand the mind of an alt-righter. They believe in upholding the constitution especially the first amendment.

What is the difference between the google engineer, this cbs reporter, and for that matter the NASCAR employees who were threatened if they didn't stand for the national anthem? I am asking seriously.

There is no difference when viewed by the Constitution. There is only a difference in acceptability from different demographic groups of the population.

Google got "heat" for it's actions because people (mostly on the right) disagreed. There is no law that says someone cannot express their disgust to someone else for their actions, or a corporation for its action. No one at Google was arrested. No rights were trampled. People simply disagreed with Google for its actions.

If CBS gets heat (I rather doubt they will) then so what? CBS is perfectly in its legal rights to terminate an employee for behavior it does not find in line with its corporate citizenship policies. Google was within its rights as well.

You continue to confuse "getting" or "giving" heat with being against Freedom of Speech. It is absolutely possible to loathe what someone is saying or doing, speak out against what they have said, yet still defend their right to say it. This is something many on the Left (and some on the Right) struggle with conceptually.
