That writer has the attitude that gets people killed. He was offended that a taxi driver warned him he was getting out in a dangerous neighborhood. I have received the same reaction from Brits when I warned them about dangerous areas. They think you are a racist.
Also, I found it ironic if not downright hilarious that a brit is looking down his nose at the US because of class and income separation. And says they wouldn't accept it in the UK. What a joke. They invented it.
