so who were the internet native companies and how much of the 600 million did they get to build out what portion.

Lets talk specifics.

I also read and article which discussed the contractors and I was not impressed. It was a bunch of govt contractors feeding at the trough.

So perhaps there were some other companies with expertise in the area....

who were they?

I think the Washington Post article is a far more reliable appraisal of the companies chosen to build the ACA website. The Post article points out that the contractors did not receive the final specifications until Spring (Feb?) of 2013 from DHS. The contractors were under a lot of time pressure to roll out something by the deadline. That doesn't excuse the shoddy work, but it does help explain it. Obviously the deadline should have been rolled back a few months to allow more beta testing. Most likely the companies over-promised in their zeal to nail down the contracts.

Start by defining "internet native companies".
 
Maybe they should just offer it up as an EBAY store or on Craigslist. 2013, hundreds of million of dollars, a zillion techies running around looking for work, and they can't build a f'n website that works? But once it's up and running they'll do a great job as administrating of your healthcare plan?
When you hear, I'm from the government and I'm here to help...RUUUUUUN, and grab your wallet on the way out.

So the chief was unaware? Seems to be a common thread for Dear Leader. Whether it's foregin policy or domestic, something goes south and Obama becomes Sgt. Shultz on us. Five long years of a guy shrugging his shoulders and saying, who knew? And the left just keeps making excuses for the "first black president". Said it before, I'll say it again. This is why blacks have such a difficult time getting hired. They turn out to be a fuck up and you're stuck with them. A screw up white guy you just kick to the curb. Next. Not so with a minority. Yeah, I know, pointing out facts make me a racist.
