No way we will fully engage, why do you think it took the Arab states to initiate, but not until they bought loyalty of the chosen winners. This will play out quickly with very little effot on the part of Nato. Someone will collect a tidy sum to put a bullet in his head, no fly is just buying time.

A couple teams of special forces equipped with stinger missiles could do the job in a couple of weeks at a fraction of the cost.

I'd say give the missiles directly to the rebels but they'd end up taking down an airliner in a year or so. Their use would have to monitored.
