No federal Budget?

Quote from clacy:

Have you not read the newspaper for the last couple of years?

I read widely in an effort to acquaint myself with different points of view.

I seem to recall a time when when government functioned reasonably between elections. May be my recollection is flawed but any more it seems politics are at the heart of EVERY action and statement made by a national politician. That is the case with not even trying to pass a budget.

I'm really, really sick of it. I think the only solution to get government working again is for the people to force term limits on Congressmen and Senators. We know they won't do it themselves.

I am in total agreement with your sentiment. The odd thing is that in a way we already have term limits. But they are imposed by the people. So term limits imposed by law, i suppose, would take care of the case were the people failed to act responsibly.

Quote from Ivanovich:

I don't think the budget has anything to do with how much they spend anyway. The Treasury releases the debt regardless of the budget. the Budget is just a fantasy number that the government pretends to hold within.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The fact that they don't want to have a budget this year is even worse than publishing one. If the Dems think this is a smart move, then they're a lot dumber than I thought.

nothing compares to the stupidity of the American people in electing Obama .

It seems you are hung up on this one person. He has disappointed me greatly as well. But to think that one person, the President, in this case, can by himself make much of a difference is probably expecting too much of him. There is a breakdown of government in both the executive and the legislative segments. These have to function together to make necessary changes in direction.

we do not disagree.

the congress which was elected also shows the stupidity of the american public. Obama simply personifies it,. It is the perfect example of the old adage that every people gets the gov't it deserve.

obama and congress are acting cooperatively to reach their goals.

Government has always been this dysfunctional, but in the past it was much easier to keep it out of the public eye.

In my opinion part of the problem we have in this country is that the vote of the leeches in our society count the same as the vote of those busting their a$$ 52 weeks a year. It doesn't seem fair to me that those who contribute to society (taxes, charities, etc) have their vote cancelled out by pathetic losers who exists solely on government handouts.

We all know which party those with the entitlement mindset vote for.

The only congress in the last 40 years that really tried to control spending was the republican congress of 95-02. Congress writes the checks. How the hell can anyone conclude that democrats have a better record?

That is the same Republican congress that gave away the US financial future by introducing Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), also known as the Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999.

One can argue that the budget really doesn't matter. It is the accumulation of bad laws that matters.
