No Email Alerts To Subscribed Threads

Hi,

Is anyone having issues with not receiving alerts to subscribed threads?

I have subscribed to a number of threads, but only 2 are consistent with email alerts (I do click on receiving the email alerts option). Occasionally, they too, will not respond and I will have to "Unfollow the Thread" and then "Follow" it again for it to work. The remainder of the threads tend to be non-responsive.

However, when I do go to the "Followed Threads" tab, the unread threads with new posts show up perfectly ok.

Any help with this will be much appreciated.

Yes I have this problem. I personally think Baron is forcing us to monitor ET 24 hours a day in order to follow these ultra-important threads.
 
I think the problem here is an intuitive expectation from most users on how the alerts should work vs how they actually work.

AFAIK, the forum roughly knows where you last read within a thread, probably down to the page level. If one gets an alert and they don't follow up on that alert specifically then the board software won't keep sending new alerts on each post in that thread. So if you miss an alert its possible to end up in a situation where the board won't send any new alerts until you happen to notice the thread again on your own. This happened to me recently with the Ag ideas thread.

Baron might have some more definitive knowledge of what's actually going on here, but I think the main issue is people expect and desire continuous alerts even if they haven't gone back to read the thread and that's not what it does.

I make a habit of checking the new posts tab each day.

No, I understand that multiple alerts aren't sent. You visit, then only is a new one generated.

I'm talking about responding to every alert and suddenly one doesn't arrive. Case in point is the ACD Thread. That is one thread I never fail to respond to, and more than once I have had no email alert, found it listed on the unread threads, and saw three or four posts that I had not been alerted to.

It's hit and miss, and if Baron could fix it, it would be good.
 
I sent a notice about this in Feedback before. So Baron is aware of the problem.

Some Alerts and Mail Notifications aren't received
I've noticed lately that replies to threads to which I've subscribed are not being shown in Alerts and no email is received. For example, yesterday I saw that someone replied to PA 'Setups', but I didn't get an alert. So I resubscribed and received alerts and emails thereafter. However, the alerts for that thread have once again stopped. This, and a few other threads are listed in Unread Followed Threads.

To which Baron replied:

I've noticed the problem intermittently but haven't really pinpointed what's causing it yet.
 
@learner2007 it seems that this is a common practice issue. When did @Baron send you that response? I'm hoping that they find the cause as he's pretty good at fixing issues that he's aware of pretty fast.

For the most part, this is not a biggie. It's just that by the time you get to the subscribed threads, there's so much to go through, that you just give up.
