The code is in the book, but you have to type it in and there is REAMS of it.

NBL (Not Bloody Likely).
The conventional technique would be to pass the binary scan output through an OCR package. Virtually every scanner comes with one.

You'll have to eyeball the OCR output for errors, but correcting them will still cost only a tiny fraction of the amount of typing you saved.

btw, eyeballing for errors is easier if you overlay an image of the final text onto the original scan.
