Nikkei 225 Index option

Hi,
Is anyone option trading Nikkei 225 Index? I am finding the Open Interest and Volume quite low and my paper trading response is very erratic - my order gets filled quite away from the bid/ask price if it ever happens. Not sure I want to risk real money if this is the case.
Any other indexes with good activity in the Asian market someone could recommend?
Thanks
Dave

You can't take fills on a paper trading account as indication for live trading fills. Aside N225, look at Kospi options, probably the most liquid listed index options in Asia. HSI options are listed as well but a lot less liquid. Not sure about ASX options as I rarely trade them.

If you have an IB account you can trade the Nikkie SGXNK (Yen based) on the Singapore Exchange for less than $2 MRC, this index has much better liquidity (tight bid-ask spread).

Nikkie (Yen) Singapore Friday volume 92,805

CME Globex Friday volume 11,709
* you get a lot more slippage on this index *

I trade the MINI HANG SENG. moves quickly has lots of volatility and has a very nice tick to $ ratio. most are set up to trade it or are getting to that point. 12 bucks a month for live data which is a second off due to distance.. but still tradeable.
HONG KONG FUTURES EXCHANGE HKFE

I can't compare as I don't trade US listed Index options or options on futures and have not investigated trading volume and liquidity.

But I sat next to a kospi index options prop trader for years and he often faced quite a bit of fx exposure off his pnl due to the non straight forward currency convertability (via NDFs only) . But that was in 2006-2008 era when krw vol was at times quite high

I'd go further, by some metrics it's the most liquid options market in the world.

Nikkei options - I find the tick size too large relative to underlying - so get in line. HSI and HHI have plenty of liquidity in the front months and are much more trade-able.

Those were wacky times. I learned more about EONIA rates than I ever wanted to.
