Broadcast primetime live + same-day ratings for Thursday, September 6, 2018

Unsurprisingly, the opening game of the 2018 NFL season absolutely dominated the Thursday primetime ratings this week.

Pending updates, NBC’s broadcast of the game between Atlanta and Philadelphia posted a 6.6 rating in adults 18-49 in the fast nationals, with 18.96 million viewers – down again year-to-year from the 7.7 and 21.79 million viewers that its kick off game had scored in 2017. The game’s ratings were also down in the metered markets with a 13.4 household rating vs. the 14.6 it had kicked off with last year. A weather delay, which pushed back the game’s start, could be part of the reason for the ratings declines.

Elsewhere, CBS’ “Big Brother” managed to perform well against the night’s NFL coverage, ticking up one-tenth from its 1.3 final last Thursday to a 1.4 this time around.

On ABC, “Match Game” returned from a small break with a 0.6, also up a tenth from its previous episode, while “Take Two” held steady with another 0.4. All of the night’s other broadcasts were repeats.

In the network race, NBC is predictably leading the other networks with a 6.0 average and 16.45 million viewers. CBS is sitting in second with a 1.0, followed by ABC (0.6) in third place. A night of repeats put FOX (0.4) in fourth and The CW (0.2) in fifth.

Many of the local bars are not even showing the NFL games on TV. Last week & this week people seem more interested in the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament and other sports than the NFL --- so the bars have these other sports up on their TVs.

There is a lot of excitement in the MLB teams jockeying for playoff spots. Fans support the MLB which stands during the national anthem and respects the US flag. Except, for one Maxwell guy from Oakland who took a knee. MLB fans called him out on it! He has been quiet of late though.

I agree that it is poor judgement for any company to wade into the middle of this. Either way you are making about half your customers upset.

UnderArmour down 12% in the last 5 days. NKE tanked after hours.
Ya know Tony....I know you don't trade....but you should pull up a chart of Target when they got on that whole transgender bathroom thing. Somewhere on ET I have a whole thread about it. 100% right as usual too. The stock has never recovered. Albeit there's more there than bathrooms., but that didn't help.
Nugent...... hmmmm..... no comment there. Gotta pay the bills. Album sales ain't what they used to be.

I was trading this stuff before you had a driver license.
here ya go...

Every company I have ever looked into that was based out of that place, has done well over the years. Target, Best Buy, United Healthcare, 3M, Cargill, Ameriprise. I mean its like ground zero of safe steady eddie stocks. The Mayo Clinic is there too, that's pretty well respected worldwide.

.

Now pipe down on the stock thing...
....pretty sure Cyrus Vance Jr. has given you enough material for the next 48 hours.
