Nightly News Ratings - Why are libs obsessed with Fox?

'NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH BRIAN WILLIAMS' WINS ALL FIVE NIGHTS

According to Nielsen Media Research Fast National data, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" was the No. 1 network evening newscast, winning all five nights in total viewers and placing first in all categories for the week of September 18 - 22, 2006.

For the week, NBC attracted 8.182 million total viewers, 6% more (+492,000) than second place CBS "Evening News'" 7.690 million, and an 8% advantage (+602,000) over ABC "World News'" 7.580 million viewers.

Fox's equivalent news show, Brit Humes' Special Report, averaged less than 1.5 Million in the 2nd quarter of '06 and is down 19% from last year, according to mediabistro.com.

Furthermore, as to the charges of Fox's extreme bias, the LA Times (hardly a pro-Bush newspaper) reported the following:

A recent comprehensive study by UCLA political scientist Tim Groseclose and University of Missouri-Columbia economics professor Jeffrey Milyo found Brit Hume's "Special Report" — Fox's most straightforward news show — more centrist than any of the three major networks' evening newscasts, all of which leaned left.

So Libs, why do you guys go apeshit over Fox when the Big 3 all lean left and the viewership for Fox's flagship news program is less than a quarter of its nearest competitor in that Big 3?
 
This same study found that "the ACLU, if anything, is a right-leaning organization." (emphasis authors').

Do you believe that?

Fox's score is very low in this study, clearly showing it's right wing bias (if you believe the study). The centrist news outlets are PBS NewsHour, CNN s Newsnight, and ABC's Good Morning America.

Brit Hume's Special Report came in 4th as most centrist after those three you just mentioned.

And thanks for highlighting the point that the Big 3's nightly news broadcasts are not among them.

So answer the question: Why do Libs go apeshit over Fox when its viewership numbers are miniscule compared to the left-leaning Big 3 networks?

Your statement is misleading. Fox is as far to the right (39) as the big three to the left (60+), except for CBS which had a score of 70+ (but strangely, the data for CBS was from early 90's while data for pretty much everyone else was late 90's and 2000's).

What you don't understand, is that Fox's news is often fabricated, such as Foley (D-FL). When CBS reported on fabricated news, their anchor got the boot.

And if you really believe this study, then you have to agree with their assessment that the ACLU is right-leaning, rather than the liberal organization that you right wingers accuse them of being.

The funniest thing is, that the WSJ is scored on the left of the average of all Democrats, and has the most liberal score among all newspapers and news magazines, including NYT.

Who among you are subscribers to the WSJ? You liberal scums!

Your post does not address the issue at hand. Why, with the very low viewership it has in comparison with the big 3, is Fox so feared by the Left?

You're equating a few seconds of (D-FL) being broadcast to Dan Rather's fabricating? Good grief....

As for the WSJ, the editorial page of the WSJ is conservative, but its news pages are liberal.

p.s. The study says: Of the 20 major media outlets studied, 18 scored left of center, with CBS' "Evening News," The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times ranking second, third and fourth most liberal behind the news pages of The Wall Street Journal.

Only Fox News' "Special Report With Brit Hume" and The Washington Times scored right of the average U.S. voter.

"Despise"? Well, the Libs sure spend a lot of time showing how much they "despise" Fox.

Here's a little tidbit for ya, again from the (not pro-Bush) LA Times:

A group of congressional Democrats has warned Fox to end its supposed anti-Democratic bias — or else. Should Democrats retake Congress, an effort to shut down, or at least muzzle, Fox, is far from inconceivable, creepy and illiberal as that sounds.
