Niederhoffer on RocknRoll, mike Jackson & Trend Following

According to Vic (and Surf) it is all random/luck. Someone needs to ask VN if him blowing out twice was just bad luck.............

People like VN and Surf like to cherry pick at trend follower's results. They turn their back on results like last year when TF's crushed it, then wont shut up the mintue TF's have a drawdown. If you look at the big picture guys like Dunn have made their clients a fortune over time, and are still doing it.

Unfortunately guys like VN and Surf can't grasp the big picture.

you "trend following" true believers are the cherry pickers of results. For every trend follower who guessed right and had the capital to withstand the inevitable huge drawdowns, another BLEW OUT TOTALLY.

Quote from Trend Following:

I don't follow the knock on trend following from Vic. I am sure he has the ability to look at month by month performance histories of trend followers and know damn well that their performance is not "dated". Take a Bill Dunn. No doubt very volatile. Takes the big drawdowns as part of his plan. Now is there anyone who would not take Dunn's 35 year track record? He is over 70 years of age and in his 35th plus year last year made $60M. Gee, that sucks. Gee, that was all luck.

are Dunn's investors who were unfortunate to get in before the big drop, back to even yet??

:D

Which ones have blown out TOTALLY ?

Lets see some facts Surf.......

If trend followers "guess right" and make a ton then what about guys like VN who showed no money mgmt skill and blew out TWICE ? Did Vic guess wrong?

Stay down for the count Surf, these arguments always end up with you looking like an idiot.

And what about VN's investors who got in before his big "drop(s)?" How are they doing?

You're wearing your clown shoes again, aren't you?

If you knew anything about Dunn or did any research you would know that a majority (if not all) of his clients have been with him in the long run. He does not take in new money unless the clients fully understand the volatility in his style.

Another fine job of cherry picking surf.

Which would you rather be, an investor who invested with Dunn and had to deal with drawdowns, or an investor who , no matter where he got in, lost EVERYTHING with VN ?

I think they are crazy glued to his feet. Surf enjoys coming off like an idiot/clown/dope/cherry picker/clown/fool/moron/clown.

There is no denying that our surf is...multifaceted.

Which big drop are you talking about ? Looking at results for Dunn from 1984 to present, that "big drop" doesn't exist.

Still waiting to see these trend following funds that TOTALLY blew out Surf.

Seriously...stay down for the count Surf.
