Quote from thoreau777:
I read the previous posts feeling the notion of unmitigated effrontery. Although I am not at all upset, I question those who believe I would have the temerity to suggest that I am someone I am not. I am sanguine that posters are writing only in jest, not in earnest.
I entered the posting on Victor because I know him, and his intellect would certainly overshadow the median Elite Trader devotee. Prior, I endeavored to join the fray in being critical of some of Victor's results, but to defend his methodology. Like Victor, I endeavor to approach trading the markets scientifically, using well repeated patterns and complex algorithims to guide my actions.
With the utmost humility and respect, I confess that the vast majority of the speculators on Elite Trader do not have a quantifiable "edge", but rather a vague qualitative "hunch" in their trading, no better than reading tea leaves or following the hemlines on women fashion magazines. Victor may not be perfect, but at least he possesses a structure, not a nebulous desultory walk in blindness.
For instance, when I play and listen to Johann Sebastian Bach, I can detect numerical sequences that play over and over. I have seriously tried to withhold judgment, but some of the comments I have read are sophomoric and vindictive in nature. If Victor's contribution to the world of speculation can be heralded as the next level Apple Computer Tablet in 2010, the typical Elite Trader commentary and hence his contribution in this thread is akin to Germany's Konrad Zuse first electrical binary programmable computer developed back in 1936.
It is easy to sit back and judge isn't it? Especially when a person lacks the conviction, courage, fortitude and intellect to engage in motion, or speculation. Black Swan events, like an acquaintance of mine named Nassim Taleb, are impossible to predict. An event such as 9/11, how could Victor be held responsible for seeing an outlier never before witnessed? Should he then not speculate at all, and make historical contributions to the investment world? Victor's long term record speaks for itself. He is a true winner, in spite of minor setbacks in his performance.
I am not Victor, but I respect him completely, and I maintain that the Elite Trader community should seek to understand his methods and extraordinary record instead of misunderstanding him completely. They would assist themselves in doing so. I am not assessing him as a saint, but if you should care to, please do procure a copy of his book and really seek to gain truth, instead of empty castigating. I feel personally nauseated now that I have mostly completed the reading of the 19 pages of this inflammatory thread. There is such misguided information that I cannot even imagine on how to react. I can only forgive such drivel as the wail of bottom feeders too cowardly to engage.
I can ask, that those who agree with me could commence a request to delete the misinformed completely baseless allegations within this thread to the administrators. There can be redemption.
