This is not going to go over very well in North Carolina.
First, let me mention that the Carolina Panthers have totally sucked since the change of ownership -- after which they started to push endless woke talking-points rather than focusing on football. The can't even get a decent quarterback in place.
A large portion of the football fans in the Carolinas are bible-belt Christians. A good portion of fans are ex-military or current military in the Carolinas. Having a transgender cheerleader (assuming this news story is true) is going to float like a rock locally.

Female referees and coaches are far more annoying than a he/she cheerleader.
The game is 100% male so why would you feel the need to get a female on the field and in the locker room?
