Look What’s Happening to The NFL After 3 Weeks of Anthem Protests

It looks like the free market has spoken, and it isn’t good news for the NFL.

After allowing San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick, and numerous other players who followed his lead, to engage in disrespectful and farcical protest of the national anthem, the NFL’s ratings have taken a hit.

We’re heading into week four of play in the NFL and the ratings through the first three weeks have been markedly poor.

Although it’s not proven, of course, that the protests are the reason for the failing ratings, it’s highly likely that they are. There has been a notable movement on social media, with tags such as #NFLBoycott, to boycott the NFL in response to the disrespectful, dishonest protests.

There are plenty of people who watch the NFL because they want to escape everyday life, and the protest movement injects a divisive, destructive and false agenda into an arena where many people simply don’t want it.

It's not the protests. Horseshit.
Certainly not enough to make any marked difference.
People are tired of the refs, the ever changing rules, the disappointing WWE like drama and the entitled losers who play every week.
Many are getting sick of the helmet to helmet collisions and on the field violence.
Not me - but this is what I hear.

I still love football. Just wish my fucking team would win for once.
 
1.NFL ratings have been declining the last 3 years.

2.Forcing players to stand for the national anthem would hurt The NFL a lot worse than a few disgruntled anti BLM boycotters. The media,democrat politicians,Sharpton and Jessie ,civil rights orgs etc would be on The NFL's ass daily. Ambulance chasing lawyers would find ways to file lawsuits and the labor dept would probably get involved.

I don't know anyone who gives a shit about anything you said except for the poor refereeing.

One issue I do have is that with the "can't touch a WR" rules, no lead is safe anymore.
Every week some team comes back from a 3-4 TD deficit to win. It's like watching video game football.

Speaking of...
If I have to hear one more time how great Drew Brees is I'm going to puke. He's the Todd Helton (or insert any 90's-00's Colorado Rockies "legend" here) of the NFL.
1- His numbers outside the dome are pedestrian
2- His stats are heavily 2nd half weighted thanks to getting crushed at halftime almost every week and facing prevent defenses for 1/3 of the game.

Brees is a surefire HOF.
 
People view sports to watch superior athletes preform at the highest levels. We expect to be entertained. People love good movies and great actors. We expect to be entertained. Athletes and actors voicing their political views is not entertaining. If that's all I'm going to have rammed down my throat day and night, I'll find something else to entertain myself with. It's a simple as that.
 
The moronic protests are part of a larger problem, which is the incompetent leadership of Commissioner Goodell. He is following the lead of the NBA in turning the NFL from a bedrock American tradition into a subsidiary of the rap industry, democrat party and now the social justice warrior community.

On the odiousness scale, the NFL still ranks behind the NBA and the NCAA but it is closing the gap rapidly.

In fairness, the responsibility for the kneeling etc lies with the team owners. They have ample power to compel players to observe traditions such as standing respectfully for the National Anthem. Jerry Jones is one owner who made it clear his players would stand or else. Players have no First Amendment rights to protest on the job any more than an employee of Walmart.

The growing number of player protests at National Football League games, driven by the Black Lives Matter movement and San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick, has prompted nearly a third of Americans to turn the games off, according to a new survey. Rasmussen Reports revealed Tuesday that 32 percent of American adults say they are "less likely" to watch a game because of the expanding protests over how blacks are treated, especially by police. By comparison, 52 percent said it doesn´t impact their watching and a small 13 percent said they are more likely to watch football games
