How much would teams have to pay if they cut them loose -- and what are their value to their teams -- as well as what other players do the teams have who can replace them. There are a host of questions.
But one thing is clear -- for this season -- it is unlikely teams will pick up unvaccinated players who were cut loose from other teams. Teams do not want to be in a position of increasing their risk of forfeiting games due to unvaccinated players.

Edit, Here’s a perfect example of natural immunity bias, nowhere in the NFL’s decision was any thought given to people who’ve recovered. Nor do they acknowledge transmission between those vaccinated.

For all we know they could have decades long immunity.

The researchers also found that people who had SARS-CoV-2 previously and received one dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine were more highly protected against reinfection than those who once had the virus and were still unvaccinated.
And not a thing about natural immunity being 7 to 13 times better than vaccine immunity.
