NFL is now attacking the fans

So it appears NFL owners want more disrespect of the country, more disrespect of the flag, and more disrespect of the military.

They are disrepecting the fans and saying the fans have no idea what the players are protesting.

The fans understand completely.

Boycott of the corporate sponsors is on! Keep at it and economic damage will be inflicted heavily on the NFL in due time! At some point, corporate sponsors will see reduced demand for their products and figure out the connection and either have to tell the NFL to end the BS protests or else, lose their sponsorship deals!

We have already seen. Papa John's called them out and we saw what happened there. They have a flag football league now, the hitting is harder than what they have in the NFL.

I don't think so. It seems that no matter whether we are talking about a person, a country or a flag. Real respect probably can't be legislated very effectively. It has to be earned and deserved. And supposedly the flag, and I suppose the anthem too, stands for a country were everyone is free to choose what they have respect for.

It's reflective of the total political disconnect in this country. If you read the football press, eg sites like Bleacher Report, they are totally supportive of the players and blame Trump for any upset. Apparently the league office agrees. Some owners like Jerry Jones see what is happening and are trying desperately to get them to reverse course , but he is up against possibly the worst commissioner in the history of professional sports, Mr. 44 million a year, Roger Goodale.

Meanwhile, the offseason has been a nightmare of players getting arrested for all kinds of embarrassing stuff and the usual drug suspensions. But we are supposed to get behind them because they want racial justice and who the hell could oppose that? Anyway the owners are old white guys and making way too much money. The players are upset because they see what the NBA thugs are making and want the same. A strike is virtually guaranteed in 2020 when the current labor agreement runs out.

The league has revised rules concerning use of the helmet and no one, particularly the officials, has any idea how to implement it. Games will be a farce of ridiculous random penalties, which will only add to the feeling that the officiating has way too much sway in games. Widespread legal online gambling will add to the fun.

I agree with you, people must be free to voice or not voice an opinion in any matter. The issue here is that these guys are not regular folk, they are employees of a company and their public behavior 'while working' is damaging the company's brand. Under any other circumstance, these 'employees' would be fired and rightfully so.

The hypocrisy of the NFL would be on full display if a few players wanted to demonstrate against abortion or for border enforcement. They would be fined or suspended immediately. For some reason, supporting thugs over the police is supposed to be something no one can object to.

Of all the problems in the black "community", law enforcement is at the bottom of the list. If these players really cared so much and were not just grandstanding, they would address the problem of gangs, drugs, teen pregnancies, unwed mothers, general irresponsible behavior, etc etc. Instead it is all whitey's fault, boo hoo we are so oppressed.

The NFL is virtually certain to face a strike in 2020 unless Commissioner Moron just gives the store totally away. The players see the contracts NBA goons are getting and they are pissed.

A wise strategy would be for the owners to be trying to get the fans on their side now, so they would side with the team and not players in a labor dispute. Given how quickly players come and go, most fans would not have a problem with the league hiring replacements and telling the striking players to get jobs handing out towels at a health club somewhere. Or maybe they could become community organizers.

By sucking up to the most obnoxious players however, the league is dividing its fans into the familiar red and blue camps. Why they would want to piss off half or probably a lot more of their fan base is a question you would have to ask Roger Goodale. No rational person could answer it. Instead of having most fans supporting their teams and the league, a good portion will just say fuck all of them and forget football.
