Goodell did not set a course in policies that divided fans over political issues.Kap started it and Goodell had to deal with it.Your solution would not have the approval of 85 % of fans including myself, millions of minorities and millions of white liberals. Forcing Black players to stand because Trump and racist whites say so would cause bigger problems than they have now.The media,minorities and civil rights organizations and leaders would brand The NFL a racist organization and that would stick with the league for decades.

The job of the proper boss is to make his customers happy and improve the financial results of his business. This includes disciplining and controlling employees who dissatisfy customers or hurt the financial performance of the business. One of the golden rules of proper operation of a business is that all political statements must come through the corporate public relations department and not via employees. This messaging about proper channels in most companies and sports leagues is clearly pushed down to the employees -- the NFL failed to enforce this and now they are dealing with a mess due to Goodell's ineffectiveness in managing the situation.

You try to imply that this is all about Goodell taking a stand for black players and also implying the majority of white fans are racist - this is pure nonsense and an example of you projecting. Half the fans of the football are upset over the disrespect of the national anthem, flag, and military. This is not about white fans being racist, it is about the lack of respect players have for our country or military. Most fans would support alternative ways of protesting for players to bring their issue to the spotlight, but trampling on our flag, national anthem, and military is a step that is unsupportable.

Here is my future projection -- Goodell will be out of a job before his contract is up and they will pay him to leave.

Agreed.The NFL has millions of white liberals and minorities as fans and we would be extremely pissed off and stop watching if The NFL gave in to the demands of the racist president and his racist supporters.

I can tell you that I am around them all the time.
I moved to good areas with good schools in the suburbs.
If you going to find white republicans you will find us there and at country clubs.
But, now there are so many hispanics (who identify as white) and asians and every other type of person who are neighbors and play golf, if we were to be racists we would have no friends. Plus we would be drummed out of the businesses we work at or run.
