I just have to say I don't think any of them can beat Obama. He has got the media, er most of it, behind him and lots of money for the campaign. I just don't see any of these guys winning in the general.

The GOP might be finished. Like the whigs etc. A new party is needed.

Honestly, I thought in my own mind that it will be very very tight if the economy is in the tank. The Rust Belt is the real warzone this year. Obama MUST win Penn, Ohio and Mizzou. If the economy was in the tank, these states might go Romney.

Now, Newt has painted Mittens the King of Bain. The total one percenter, who pays less tax, than the working man, has a swiss bank account, is a corporate raider who has taken not only jobs, but your tax money. He is no longer called Massachusetts Moderate, he is now a Progressive, point blank.

This attack was targeted for the Rust belt, and I just don't see how Mittens can shake it.

The GOP itself sensing something serious is afoot, is now going to redouble their efforts on Newt. They will play the "Newt got fired by his own party" card.

Santorum is too religious. He wears his Catholicism on his sleeve.

They are going to do the Alex Jones on Ron Paul if they have to, they are making the tin foil hat right now.

So in effect, Obama, has the money, has the bully pulpit, has the billionaires, and has the media except for Fox and Matt Drudge.

I think you are right, whatever comes out of Tampa, it will be the end of the GOP as we know it.

Newt does not have the ground game to go third party.

Newt is going to do this. If he does not wrest the nomination out of Romney's hands, as the defacto political leader of the conservatives, he will give the order for them to sit. Rush may well confirm that, and then there will be a third party going forward.

Newt will never concede, this is clear, he WILL hand the election to Obama before Mittens smells the Oval Office.

I can see pro Obama groups giving him the funding he needs to run 3rd party to assure Obamas re election.I'd donate to Newt for a third party run as well

I bet Newt would get more funding for a 3rd party run then he has for his GOP primary run
