Who are these people that the black community now seek to memorialize? Michael Brown? Freddie Gray? What cause did they lead so that they should be memorialized? They are not Medgar Evers who was murdered just for registering poor black people to vote. They are not Emmett Till who was tortured and murdered just for flirting with a white woman. They are not anything like the hundreds black people who were beaten to death or hung in during the real racist horror of the 40's,50's and 60's. Brown was video recorded committing a crime and killed shortly there after while committing another. Freddie was a career criminal destined for an early grave. Both were nothing but your common street thug.
Have black people become so gullible that this is the new martyrdom? Have we as a nation become so eager to appease the mob that facts just don't matter? Are blacks so concerned with proving victimization that they sacrifice pride, sully the names and smear blood of those who were lynched, beaten and murdered while attempting to attain real and deserved civil rights?
Hollow slogans and clichés have become the hallmarks of the new civil rights movement. Unfortunately empty phrases will not cure what ails the black family and their communities. Memorializing thugs and ignoring their criminal activity will not make black communities safer. Riots and looting will not bring any sympathy. The current group of "black leadership" is a disgrace to those who came before them.
