Bush would never rely on any real intelligence in determining to bomb Iran or not, as intelligence is a commodity he is devoid of.

Bush talks God, and then he fits the facts to meet his mission, then sells the sheeple on stopping the evil doers.

Seriously, citizens doubting the intelligence agencies is just one of the many dire consequences of Bush and company.

Clinton damaged the trust in the presidency with his lying about Lewinsky, and Bush just perpetuates the declining levels of trust in our elected officials.

If you really think the types of lies involved are even comparable than you just lost all remaining respect. The former lies show Clinton to be a normal person, like so many other. Bush's lies show him to be a dangerous idiot with no integrity and a dangerous, if twisted agenda.

Every selfish lie weakens the moral fiber of the liar, every time the electorate discovers they were lied to weakens the office of the presidency and the fabric of society.

Clinton easily and naturally lied to protect himself first and foremost...that is a quality you want in the Oval office?

Clinton could have done the right thing, he chose to do the wrong thing.

Then when caught in his lie, he again did the wrong thing.

There was no nobility in the lie, no nobility in not putting the right thing to do before self interests.

Having children grow up watching the president get caught in a lie, big or small, then watch the president not take any genuine responsibility for the lie, not act in the best interest of the country is much more damaging than you seem to accept.

The right thing for Clinton to have done was to resign and Gore would have been president right now...but Clinton's lie gave birth to 8 years of another bald faced liar.

The fist lie was forgivable if Clinton had asked for forgiveness, the reaction to being caught in that lie with a distinct lack of class or concern for the long term consequences for the country and the democratic party is unforgivable.

Yes, the small things do matter in the larger scheme of things.

Ok, I agree with that and it was a dumb thing to do, certainly. I like your expansion to the fact Gore was not elected.
Still, the lack of respect for the office and the possible implications is an implicit one. With Bush (and Cheney!) it is an explicit show of disdain and disrespect for not only the office, but for the whole nation and it's constitutional heritage.
Still, you may be right that if it wasn't for that cigar we would now not be in this mess.

Maybe the issues being lied about were on hugely different levels, but Clinton lied so easily and so cynically to an entire nation. Maybe he wasn't a megalomaniac but he was definitely a slimeball. There hasn't been a statesman in the presidency since.. since when?

Anyone remember the Nigeria Plutonium deal? Right after news said that's fake, Bush came out and said nothing is changed and war is still on.

Normally, if you are a lawyer and facts you count on are wrong, you re-examine your case. That way, you won't look like you haven't done your homework.
