newbie: quoter hitter, quotee,

Hi guys

I'm trying to understand some terms used in algo trading, and Google is not really helping for once

Can anyone explain me the following terms in the context of algo trading, and what's their purpose:
- quoter / hitter
- quotee / underlying (not sure if these terms are related)
- adverse selection
- event router
