What if I want to became a Quant, or develop some models to backtest and stuff... I'm clueless about this, I hold a degree in finance, I'm trading for a major regional bank but I'm clueless about developing models and that stuff and I really don't know what I should do to start. Any word of advice? thanks

you should put this sticky thread on top of trading... i don't think this forum gets that many eyeballs....

The ideal medium for creating FAQs and letting people collaborate, is a Wiki. There exists one for traders at

Hey, only one sandwich per newbie, you greedy bastard! Well, you might have a future in trading, I can already tell.

There are only 2 rules, otherwise everything goes:

1. Before you post your very newbie and unoriginal question that has been asked 3122 times already, please, PLEASE use the SEARCH button at the top right corner. Chances are that we already answered it 3 years ago.

2. In the very unlikely case when you think that you have a new and original question, automatically Rule #1 should be followed.

The first part was very funny, it made me smile so thank you ;) As to the other stuff though, what's the point of the board? If the only thing we ever said was "use search" every time a question was brought up, there would be no discussions on this or any other board because the majority of the questions have been answered, sometimes 3122 times, but if it wasnt for that then the only thing we would have here really is chit chat, political talk, a couple people talking about how this trading thing is impossible, a few others insisting that its not and self promoting egomaniacs like me on this site. hmmmm....come to think of it that kinda sounds like the current situation here anyway...never mind. :)

I suggest taking a look at out reading list on our site
at Puretick.com

The list is free.

The first book I would get is Trading in the Zone by Douglas.

Sorry, no setups, no charts where the author magically bought there (at the bottom) and yes sold there (right at the top).

Reading that book, and trading with a few "World Class Traders" who felt the same way as that book described turned me around SLOWLY from loser to winner.

Successfully,
