wow @themickey I didn't realise , I thought you were an aussie..Arapuni, had to look it up...on the river to Taupo...very nice...Queenstown ! magic spot...you go back there much ? You have a trade so that took you around ...i like how you experiment with fishing gear etc ...well done....its ironic you a kiwi living in aussie and I'm actually an aussie living in NZ...from Adelaide... Fonterra took me here and brown trout fishing before that.. don't tell the aussies about NZ mate as they will come over in droves and we/I don't want that...lol...

When I was working in powerstation there was an Aussie guy there and when we'd ask him why he came to Kiwi (NewPlymouth of all places which has not a lot going for it other than wind) he was always evasive, I got the impression he was running away from the law. Hahaha.
Yeah Arapuni has a hydro station, my old man worked there when we were kids.
Tokoroa and Kawerau I was there in Pulp & Paper, mechanical fitter, I moved there because my interest was in deer hunting, likewise Queenstown, but in Queenstown I was a bartender/wine steward.

lol...re aussie you came across in NZ...yes don't forget we (aussies) were mostly convicts from mother England in the 17-18th centuries...wow, yep cool re Arapuni...hydro station...power in the plant I run has gone up 60% in the last 4 years...we need you back here ! lol.. you have great hand to mind skills..a valued commodity these days ...i saw the range of skills/jobs you have had..very impressive.. yes wine had me in aussie and around the world for 20 years too..NZ wine industry in a very good position as long as Australia is banned from China...i hear it might come back though...small world hey TheMickey !

Yup, so when we were kids (me the youngest of 5 boys) my brothers were into making model aeroplanes, trout fishing from the dam at Arapuni and deer hunting in North & South Island.
So I did a bit of trout fishing at Turangi (South of Taupo) and also in the Waikato River, also in Lake Wanaka Queenstown. But deer hunting was my main interest.
When I was living in Kawerau and single, I was into trail bike riding in the bush with a Yamaha 250cc. When in NewPlymouth I had road and trail bikes and rode a motorbike to work for 14 years straight.
These days I'm an old bugger so trading is #1, but I have a 750W fat electric mountain bike and I love riding that fast. Where I am in Perth there's lots of bush and very long sandy beaches to ride.

very cool., I saw a couple of young deer hunters they could scale the mountains at St Arnauds faster than I could have sprinted on land...amazing athleticism.. man it would have kept you fit... oh so you in WA , cool..only been there once...didn't mind it... yeah its hard to keep a good fitter and turner down off the mechanics hey.... 14 yrs straight , wow... hehe i can relate to the being older now..yeah the beaches must be very nice there....how often do you get back to NZ ? i try to get back to Adelaide twice a year... might retire back in aussie ...we will see...

Hehehe, as least as possible, has been, dunno 20 years last time there.
I love Australia too much, I like the flat open plains, the long straight flat roads, love the continuous cloudless days, the hot weather, love the huge amounts of coast line, beaches and bays, I love the variety of food, I love the people, the accent.
Whenever I arrive in NZ the same thought always, "wtf am I doing here?".
I detest driving hilly windey roads where you battle the steering wheel, can't drive fast or overtake, fuggin hate it! hehehe But I miss the hunting.
If I'm gonna spend money on a holiday I'd rather spend it in Australia.
I've been 'everywhere', USA, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Vietnam, China, but it's Australia I love the most. My wife is Asian, she loves it here too.
PS I think the Netherlands is fantastic, lived & worked there for several months.

Started trading when I was maybe about 32 years old, always stocks, mostly always mining.
And all that began what 40 odd years ago.
I went full time 8 years ago, still mostly mining because I find there's more a speculative element in mining so better for swing trading.
I use my own TA ideas methodolgy, but it sort of is a Darvas box method, but I only recognised that later. I work off algo spreadsheets which I code myself. I like excel formulas, they're easy to work from because if you're stuck for creating a formula, you can soon either find one or make one. I once made my own excel formula using chatgpt which kept giving me wrong answers but by adding together a bunch of false function replies from chatgpt managed to create the right function formula, but that took several hours to finalise.
Some guys say excel (I use Googlesheets) is clumsy and long winded but I find it nice to work with. I was once an Amibroker coder but I still prefer spreadsheets which auto update.
With amibroker every day had to manually download the previous day's data, my method there's no need to, it does it on the run, for USA stocks only a 10 minute delay.

Nice,yeah Chargpt is helpful I also managed to use it to create my own indicator on tradingview. And backtested some ideas with python as well. I tried to make googlesheet too, but ran short of time to dig into it, where do you get data from for your googlesheets?
