I think when starting out, advise from just about anyone is near useless, information overload causes not knowing who/what to believe. After few years, coaching might help with someone giving clearer direction without offering exactly what one requires of trading plan. But once trading plan, backtesting and then open an account, where a trading coach more effective is living with trading plan and trade it as it was developed. All kinds of internal problems happened to me in early 90's, and once you achieve your goals or achieve too quickly, good trading coach can help with learning to live new way of life. Way too many young traders I have known in past freaked out from early huge profits only to lose it all later and quit altogether. Just cause you making profits don't make you expert trader. Try being profitable each year for decade, by end of that, you hide from people of what you achieved.

Handle123, you make some good points. Most traders seek me out for coaching after significant losses and 1-10 or more years' experience. They are often used to success in life, and want to achieve it trading, but haven't yet. Then there are those, like you mention, who don't know how to deal with success. These are psychology issue so they can be different for each person. I think this is that hardest part of trading by far.

From your experience out of 100% what would you say is the basis for the trading decisions of those you are familiar with, 1) tested trading methods, 2) emotions, the need for 3)entertainment 4) hope to make "a million dollars", 5) other?

It seems to vary from person and from time to time. Sorry, I don't have percentages for you.
