New SLAVERY in America. 25 cents/minute??????

Quote from gwb-trading:

Most people working in Contact Centers in the U.S. earn $8 to $10 per hour. Most of these workers would view the ability to work from home for up to $15 per hour as a great step up.

As mentioned before they need to talk over the phone NON STOP to make $15/hr

In reality, they don't. So they are making ONLY 25 cents/minute if they talk. Rest of the time they are not getting paid.

At most contact centers, the calls do come in non-stop. Usually there is a large queue of calls spread across the agent population. This is why when you dial a contact center, you are usually placed on hold for 5 to 20 minutes.

Normally the only way that an agent stops receiving calls is to set their status to non-available. I expect that most of the home-based agents can easily get 60 minutes of call each hour (if they desire) and earn $15.

I know that at most of the contact centers I work with all the agents are at 100% utilization.

This thread is a joke. $15/hr is hardly slavery LOL. So what if this woman only gets paid when she's on the phone - that's how it should be. What is she doing while not on the phone? Doing dishes? Eating bon-bons and watching Oprah? Why SHOULD she get paid for time not spent on the phone?

It's called doing work. Do you come from a future where the United Federation of Planets has already freed us from resource constraints and we live in a communist utopia?

no

Clearly things would be better if the government stepped in and made this illegal so that instead of hiring lazy bitches in Florida at 15$/hour, US companies will be forced to farm this work out to overseas call centers at a fraction of that rate....

Here's a surprisingly necessary reminder of what real slavery looks like:

Why do you call a hard-working mother a bitch?
