New Rig....but xp32 bit is recommended !!!

Agreed. Why should you limit the full potential of your new computer (especially the availability of RAM)?

That's a MIGHTY WEAK argument. Is this an example of the logic you use for trading?

Are you building or buying?

Will your motherboard support 2 PCIeX16 slots?

Which dual vid cards have you chosen?

Dell T3500

Yep

Two 512MB Ati FirePro V5700

Agreed XP Pro is time tested and solid, much like NT was durng the 90s compared to windows 98 , Me and all the other crap that was rushed to market back then. Only thing better would be Unix but not enough power users to make a brokerage code for that class of user worthwhile.

An OS never made anyone any money. If IB is important to you and their tech support says "XP32", that's what you should use.

There isn't any compelling reason to use a newer OS, and XP will be good for at least 4 more years.

What part of IB's inability to support a 64bit environment do you guys not understand?
Is it that you do not understand that a 64bit environment offers more stability & security than a 32bit?
Is it that you can't fathom why a deficient tech support and IT staff like IB CAN'T create a 64bit platform?

If that's really true, doesn't that make XP32 a logical choice for IB users?
