New Poll Shows Jews Favor Obama

Methodology

Gerstein | Agne Strategic Communications designed the questionnaire for this survey of 800 self-identified adult American Jews, conducted June 29 - July 3, 2008. The survey has a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percent; the margin of error in the split samples is +/- 4.9 percent. Gerstein | Agne contracted the research company YouGovPolimetrix to administer the survey by email invitation to its web-based panel, which is regularly updated and consists of 1.2 million Americans.

Conducting reliable and affordable surveys of American Jews is a challenging task due to the small number of Jews as a proportion of the overall United States population. Advances in technology and sophisticated web-based panel techniques have greatly helped researchers seeking to gain a trustworthy understanding of small populations, such as American Jews, and web-based panels are a rapidly growing method across numerous audiences that are difficult to reach by traditional land line telephone surveys.

Quote from a_person:

While the numbers do sound about right IMO, it's still the responsibility of the poll to prove that it's not bogus and that it's using proper methodology...If of course the poll wants to be taken seriously. Polls that don't publish their methodologies usually have something to hide.

"I became a bit of an expert on this during my Congressional race."

No doubt your failed run for congress included your views and thoughts on what you think was the greatness of Adolph Hitler...

That would really bring in the Jewish vote.

Quote from Pa(b)st Prime:

The fact Lieberman was returned to the Senate from a solid blue state as a third party candidate says something about his numbers.

That being said: What's the definition of a Jew?

Some polls indicate over half of American Jews are secular agnostic. The Woody Allen type "Jew" goes years without visiting a temple. His self identification as a Jew is more of a social, cultural badge than a statement signifying religion.

Among non-reform, non-agnostic "Jews" I'd imagine Lieberman has a large following. Much of the differential is age based. Older Jews are more traditional religious and stronger on Israel. Young Josh and Jake don't share Irv and Sam's devotion to a Jewish homeland.

I became a bit of an expert on this during my Congressional race.

My district is very 'Jewish" but mostly of the Woody Allen type. In those lakefront liberal precincts (the large hi-rises on Lake Shore Drive that came out huge for Obama), Bush recieved under an eighth of the vote against Kerry. However in parts of West Rogers Park, Lincolnwood and Skokie-neighborhoods with large amounts of Orthodox Jews-Bush carried precincts albeit by narrow margins but a majority none the less.

If Hitler were a Democrat he'd carry the Jewish vote......

Keep spewing the ignorance Past man.

Interview after the 1933 Chancellor election.

Exit Pollster: Who did you vote for today?

Ira and Stacy: We had a few misgivings but we went for Adolph.

Pollster: You weren't concerned with Hitler's anti-Semite views?

Ira and Stacy: We weighed both the good and bad. Naturally we were a bit put off by the extermination and death camp rhetoric but when Hitler speaks of creating a socialist workers paradise it made us both believe Hitler speaks for Jewish values. Plus his commitment with Dr. Porsche in building an affordable peoples car that's also environmentally friendly was a real plus with us. We're green before Jewish. And when Adolph speaks of eliminating the Jewish merchant class we feel that as Jews we should shoulder at least some of the blame for exploiting poorer Germans with those high sausage prices. So the choice was easy. Hitler will provide much needed change from Hindenburg and his failed policies.

You are really past your prime, assuming you had a prime at all...

You are talking about what people thought before Hitler got into power and the actions of the Nazis in the next decade following his rise to power.

Today's Jews are well aware of what Hitler did in the past, and to suggest that if Hitler were a democrat Jewish democrats would vote for him today is delusional...

What about the methodology makes the poll not legitimate?

First there are complaints that they were hiding something...which they weren't.

Now the poll is not legitimate?

Explain how the poll is not legitimate?

Quote from ilikefox es:

I don't really know how this statement is supposed to give confidence that the survey is legit.
