Remember, academic liberal: Education doesn't equal intelligence.
The fact of the matter is that the condition of whether or not a child's welfare is being met is extended to include the gender identity clause. Additionally, if any part of the welfare is not met, children are subject to removal via child services. It's really that simple. I didn't write the article, I just posted it.
Thus, the headline that the new (adjustment to the) law enables children to be seized, should the government desire it, based on whether gender identity is accepted or not by parents and legal guardians.
I wouldn't be overly concerned. In accordance with Canadian respect for personal rights, this law will only be applied to Christian families, an increasingly small demographic. Muslims in particular will be exempted as submission to islam becomes increasingly mandatory.
ps. Does Canadian socialized medicine cover female genital mutilation? I mean, it seems to be a core islamic cultural value, so I would assume they would cover it.

The original source comes off some fundamentalist Christian Canadian site, just go to the bill itself, it's not as extreme as painted on here.
I get that. But what I said about the law is totally correct. Whether the law will be used in such a fashion is not certain. But that it can be legally used in such a fashion, is certain.
That's the bit I'm not so sure about, honestly I don't care enough to read the bill and debate you about it, but the quick skimming I did kind of reads like it's meant for foster care and adoptions and not so much biological parents. They also consider culture, language, and religious upbringing (an in no catholic kid in protestant household, and vice versa).
