I just try to answer questions about ECHO, my office here in SD, professional firms --usually after Don has though or he just will post Robert is correct :) . I've also posted stuff pertaining to my father's work and such if a question arises or some of my trading strategies and styles....but I've been taught by some not to do much of the latter as it seems to cut down on the effectiveness of my systems after awhile.

Robert Tharp

I'm really sickand tired of the ECHO guy running amok all over this site...If he was a real man, he too would have over 1000 posts offering solid, insightful, wonderful information like me!!!

(There you go Robert, now you're part of the club!)

Seems to me that the policy of pay to spam is worse than not paying and spaming. It legitimizes it. I have said it before and will say it again, but there is a conflict between Bright and LW advertising and running amok around these boards bullying people who don't agree with them.

I don't have a great solution to Baron's problem of needing to pay for this service. It is a great service. Maybe he should charge for getting a user name. That would prevent multiple user names for the same person and generate revenue. Or, maybe charge an Advertiser like Don by the post too. Over 1000 seems excessive...

Charging a user probably is not viable. As for Don Bright running amok, never have I seen one board user anywhere take more heat than Don Bright. He is attacked relentlessly at ET. His commercial motives are clear to all and apparently he is naturally garrulous.

Besides, can't you just ignore the spammer/sponsers?

Granted, Don takes heat. More than he deserves. I am amazed and thankful he takes it day in and day out. I don't presume to ask him not to post. The system is designed so that he has incentive (or no disincentive) to post.

What we will never know is how many posts were altered or not posted at all because of Don's presence. Every person is entitled to an opinion. I have no problem with Don correcting misstatements of fact. His attacking opinion is bullying using his stature as a firm owner and industry veteran.

I repeat to make this clear. I think Don has every right to be on these boards and to state his opinion and correct factual errors as was his original intention in joining these boards in the first place. Inherent in the system is a conflict between open discussion and advertisers.

I am not anti-Don or Gene or Rtharp or the rest of the crew. I am pro Free Speech without fear of reprisal.

Hi again "new" --- I would like to make the point, once again, that I have only on one occasion asked for a post to be looked at by the moderators. I haven't asked for any favorable treatment here, and have been posting on discussion boards for 20 years (yes, 20 years since the old days on "the Source" )....and have no problems with open discussion or even conflict at times....I do think that the Board and its' members are better served when we keep things civil (as you do).

Some people get so vile that I really wonder how they survive in the real world (if they're having so many problems coping with an Internet board).....anyway, just wanted to set the record straight from my end.

Don

I don't know if this is the right forum or not, but I, for one, am glad to have someone of Mr Bright's caliber contributing to this site. Whether his blatant commercialism puts you off or not, I believe that he has made considerable efforts to inform, educate, illucidate, and recruit to the best of his ability. I find it very informative to look at what he has to offer from the prop. view, although it may be boring to many of you. I also find it amazing that he continues to respond after all the heat that that he has sustained. Don, keep up the good work-you deserve a raise ( and if financial times were different, you would most assuredly get it)

Count me as one who appreciates how the site works. I think your solution to sponsors is perfect. If anybody disagrees, try reading the nytimes or washingtonpost and other free sites online and see how many pop ups you have to deal with. (I hope this doesn't give you any ideas, Baron). Plus I also think the professionals add a lot to the content. And the sponsors get something too. I switched to IB for trading mostly because of reading this site and cut my commission costs considerably. I'd like to take the Bright course some day because I think it would help me read the markets better and it's not that expensive compared to what other people are offering, and a week in Vegas is not exactly boot camp.

Baron,

I would also like to commend you for your handling of the situation. It certainly is a difficult line to walk and IMO, the best position is to bring it all above board and out into the open - as you've done.

I would reiterate many of ArchAngel's earlier comments as well. I don't see the individuals (sponsors) running amok. Don's calling it like he sees it, and I respect that - even though I disagree with him most of the time about most of the topics here. I agree that any misrepresentations by any of these guys will be quickly dealt with by others on the board.
