New Monitors, what is your preference

Quote from Scataphagos:

"Full HD" is defined(?) as "1080p"... that is, the signal is not interlaced. That applies mostly (exclusively?) to TV signal....

What model Dell 22s do you have which are 1920x1080? (Must have tiny pixels and very sharp resolution... most 22" have .282mm pixels.)

By my standards and by most people's standards, Full HD is 1920x1080, but I definitely came across monitors with less then 1920x1080 resolution being marketed as "Full HD" so I just cautioned the OP to make sure the reso is what is represented.

My 22's I just got (2 weeks ago?) are Dell E2210H with Pixel Pitch:
0.248 mm http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&sku=320-8241

Just cheap TN panels which work real well for the money + 3 year advanced exchange warranty and free shipping.

Sure enough. Surely this res on a 22" is a new development...

I saw a notebook which said the display spec was 1920x1200.. on a 15" screen! Those pixels must have been pin points.. something riduculous like .17mm

I'm wonder if people here don't like widescreen monitors for trading? I have always used the 4:3 and wonder if the switch is substantial. I'm also thinking about adding a 4th monitor, currently use only 3 19' Dell 4:3.. I'm thinking about getting 4 of the following and then getting a quad mount, so 2 on the bottom 2 on top. What do you guys think of this monitor?

ViewSonic VA2232wm 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor - 1680x1050, 1000:1 Native, 100000:1 Dynamic, 5ms, VGA, DVI, Integrated Speakers

I'm going to see if they will work a deal better then online for ordering 4 at a time.

Also, If I do 4 monitors, can I just buy 2 dual video cards? I'm pretty much going to get a new computer too so I won't have to do any upgrades any time soon!

Make sure your new computer has 2, PCIEx16 slots for video cards.... and no "onboard video" chip.

80-90% of all desktop computers sold do not have 2, and do have onboard video.

My recent favorite is the Samsung 23" LCD monitor.

Viewsonic is a close second favorite. I have their 22", 23", 24". All look good.

If you can, I would suggest a monitor that has the 1920 x 1080 for the 22" up. You can appreciate the added details on a monitor that size.

Many of the popular brands support dual video output. Make sure on the box you read something like:

Dual monitor support

or

DVI + DVI or DVI + VGA or VGA + VGA

something like that.

2 major things to look for when picking a video card:

1. The bus. PCIeX16 or PCIeX1 or PCI (old one). Make sure your box has available slots of the matching type.

2. Dual monitor support. The DVI and VGA can be done via an adapter. It's best if the monitor has the DVI port. If not use the VGA port.

My preference: I like the brands "PNY Technology" and "EVGA".
