yes. linspire is just another Linux distribution, but with some extra attention to making it less scary for windows users. it doesn't use a "traditional windows platform," (not sure exactly what that is), and whatever compatibility it has with MS products can be replicated with any other distribution.
that said, if you like it and feel comfortable using it, go right ahead - any Linux distribution is superior to MS - just know there are lots of alternatives:
