New IB Features

Is there a listing anywhere for the maximum LIMIT allowed on a STOP LIMIT set by the exchanges e.g I want to replace My STOP MKT orders in strategies wioth STOP LIMIT with (very) wide LIMIT but not so big that maybe I risk having the order rejected by the exchange.

You mean as wide as you can for each exchange?

That is a good question. Another question would be ---how wide IB allows on its server. Or are you just talking about CME?

Hoi, yes I know ButtonTrader, in fact I considered it the best of all TWS front-ends I had evaluated (was 9 months ago, so things may have changed).

It was just that I thought BT had too many features and I just needed a relatively simple DOME entry and bracket order mgmt.

The good thing with the IB-API-model is that there is soo much choice!....For each IB-trader there is something that fits its needs and budget..just great !

I spent 20min on the online realtime Chat (the java app) earlier today and your support staffer agreed that there was a difference of about -$500 between the "Futures PnL" shown in TWS->Account and what it should have been, based on closed trades and MTM of open positions.

Now I'll have to wait for daily statement and check the numbers by hand...

Following up my previous comment, the e-mailed Daily Statement by IB, accurately reflects P/L of Friday 19-Aug.

By day's end on Friday, the TWS->Account->Futures PnL was almost $1k different from the correct P/L.

PS: Right now (Sunday afternoon 16:00EST) markets are closed, yet TWS still somehow starts the week with a -371.24 in Futures PnL (this isn't new, incorrect "new day" P/L is going on for 6 months or more). And a position in COIL is missing.

Please let me know what other pop-ups still show up. Thanks.

As promised, here is an attached image of one popup that I'm receiving repeatedly in the last couple of days, for several stocks.

Aside from not being able to disable the opening of the popup, the content of the message is also a little scaring. Your customer service told me that it's normal and I'm just now realizing that probably I'm getting them just because I left a couple of chart windows opened the evening before.

At any rate, it would be nice if I had an option to disable *all* popups and get a code/error string event from the API instead, so that I could process it appropriately.

Looks like a chart popup, not related to the API functions. I thought the issue was that you don't want pop-ups on activities related to API functionality. Did I misunderstand?

(In the latest TWS version we have disabled a lot of API related popups).

Well, my original worrying was about the fact the previous versions of TWS had popups that stopped the correct operation of API. So, whenever I see a popup opening now, my first thought goes to the possibility that my system could be not working properly, even if in the meantime many issues have been resolved in latest releases.

Just think about it this way: a popup is a device that requires user interaction. But if I intend to use only API connection, TWS simply should not send any message to me through popups, because I chose to work in "API only" mode.

Remember that of course the best of all would be the option of an API-only piece of software allowing for connection to IB servers: a DLL, an OCX or something like that. Then, user application software could rely on that for connection without necessarily having to keep TWS running. Is this something you are considering for a near future?

Thank you for your answer.

IB is getting hammered here. Give them a little break guys.

Not by me, I suppose. Being myself a progammer I know that writing software is not an easy task. And I too have, like IB, customers who report back to me issues in the software I write. So I think it's IB's best interest to know what users perceive about their products and also receive suggestions for improving them. IB is already doing that, so let's keep moving forward.

Politely, of course.
