New Here

I did them all when I started. If your interested mainly in options trading, then 1,4,10,11,12,13,14,15,17-20. Obviously all the chapters are related to options trading somehow, and I would go through them all, but those are the ones most related to options trading..
I actually read them all before.

I love to be able to trade vol. I was referring to @PoopyDeek's statement that I could trade vol after solving all homework problems in Hull. I don't recall reading or solving any vol trading problems in Hull. Do you know where in Hull discusses/teaches vol trading?

Thanks.

Why better?

I am not saying futures are better than options, just better for beginners. There is one thing they have in common - the market. It will take the same amount of time to learn the market, then add the amount of time to learn options. I started out with options. It takes a while.

With options you have a lot more to consider than just market direction. WAY MORE. With futures you only have direction.

With options, the spreads are variable. In futures, the spreads are usually 1 tick.

You really need to understand how all the variables affect the price of an option.

  • You have no choice but to use stops with futures.
  • You end up getting stopped out a lot and then watch as it rebounds without you.

It sounds like you are comparing options trading to daytrading futures and making a LOT of assumptions on how to trade them.
