I'm going to build a new computer as my old one bit the dust. For automated trading using software like Ninjatrader what would I need.
So far I plan on building a system with an i7 core 6700, with M2 Samsung 950 SSD and was wondering which of the following ram is preferable?
1. G.SKILL Tridentz Series F4-3600C16D-16GTZ DDR4 3600MHZ 16GB(2X8GB) CL16 1.35V Memory Kit (F4-3600C16D-16GTZ) In Stock $202.98
2. G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C14 Memory Dual Channel Kit(F4-3200C14D-32GVR) $279.00
3. G.SKILL Trident Z Series 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Memory Dual Channel Kit (F4-3200C16D-32GTZA) $239.00

#1 is only 16gb total

#2 has lower latency than #3,

Google is your friend, you may not need the lower latency, but then again since you don't know which you need, spend the extra $40 ... problem solved...

None of the above. Instead consider ECC ram.

Damn Catman... I was just on my way to buy a 39GB GGxm Cray with a nano-quantum latency pre-loaded with Dual-RipJaws and NinjaTrader SwagSuite. Should I put this off for awhile? I used the cloud based free-trial and it predicted PCLN to close at $1350 on Friday. :D

Does software have a limit what will work for them to be used?
They always have a minimum that computer needs, always wondered if some have a max?
Reason I has made a platform cause Ninja has/had limits of speed and memory, when I had it you could only have 500 instruments in it and I wanted few 100k, you start adding options, piles up quickly. Way too often times Ninja would lock up doing scans, and yes had fast machines.
Did version 8 Ninja get rid of these bugs?
 
There's a problem with the 3200MHz memory, most MBs cannot handle above 16GB in 4x4 configuration, the system crashes constantly. Have an overclocked 5820K to 4.4GHz, it runs at 17,000 passmark which is the same as a 5960X, it's fast but had to use 2666MHz at 32GB. The M.2 SSD is fantastic for boot at a couple seconds to Windows 10.

In reality it depends what timeframes, how many instruments, how many apps, how many indicators, are the indicators tick or close based. That determines the performance you need and then you have to take account of the spikes, news days etc. which will overwhelm the system with the tick data which has to recalc in realtime!
