Leap regardless the man is violating a federal court order and he doesn't own the land. I don't see where the rancher has a leg to stand on. If he can squat on that land why can't any of us go and take any federal or state land we want. This is a lost cause and a poor reason to put up a government fight.
I think you're correct from a purely legalistic standpoint. But this is a slippery slope, like property or income taxes.
Consider your house. It is actually like an investment owned by the State, who collects "dividends" or "interest income" from it in the form of property taxes. The State also has the right to liquidate this investment if these payments stop, for any reason.
Land is the same way, but is further restricted by zoning laws. The State claimed ownership of all the land (through violence) as the victor in war, conquest, or other tactics of forced coercion and their only authority in the present is that same force which can potentially get used against the serfs (or citizens, if you prefer).
Income taxes are dividends you pay your owner for its investment in you. Yes you will be captured and imprisoned if you do not pay your Master the income it claims from your increase; you are its property and your so-called "freedom" only exists within good standing at the IRS........
And to think, the British wondered why the colonists resorted to violence against them. As history proves over and over again, violence, and the threat thereof, is the greatest authority known to man.
Women, on the other hand, know a few other tactics of coercion (yes I've felt the wrath of female managers, blondes being the worst, when they perceive I think for myself).......
In summary, if we look at our relationship to our pyramid of government agencies, none of us are free unless we remain in good standing with our owners, who are entitled to all dividends and interest they coerce us to pay (and of course they set the price). If at any time we default, we can be liquidated through threat of violence and thrown in prison, or have our "property" confiscated.
Is it any wonder a few rednecks push back on occasion? How much oppression can a God fearing man take?
Note that men who worship the God of Abraham tend to push back (Redneck Christians, Jews and Arabs being the obvious examples). Could this be why diversity, depravity, atheism and a rat life of going thru debilitating motions are "officially" accepted?
