Networking Tivos

I was wondering if anyone had done this. It would be really cool to have two Tivo's, record on one, and be able to watch the recording on the OTHER TV. If the Tivos were networked and the support for it was there, this would be a breeze.

I do not know if the Tivo Operating system supports this, but I believe the OS is just a custom Linux?

Anyway, anyone know if this can/has been done?

Check out mythtv.org

Its a homebrew version of tivo that allows you to network easily.

Now that my wedding is over, I am going to get a 120 gig hard drive and build one, if I am allowed :)
 
The newer Tivo(s) already have this built into the software. You can network them within the home, or even send a show over broadband to another Tivo.

If you have a series2 tivo...you can do it with the HomeMedia option. In fact, my TIVO is on my home network via wireless..and receives the daily updates over the net. I don't have a second TIVO...so i can't swap shows...but eventually I will get another. I do play my MP3 on the TIVO/Home theater....which is very cool.

nitro, it really depends on which model you have and various other factors.

Go have a look at the tivo community forum as referenced above. There are even published solutions for networking older units. With all the hobbyists out there, if it CAN be done with a Tivo, it HAS been done... and written about extensively :)
