The reality is that I have an in-depth opinion regarding the problems and issues in the U.S. medical system and the steps that need to be taken to resolve them. You can go read some of my previous posts for details. And let me say Obamacare is not the solution - ACA was a giveaway to insurance companies, failed to provide improved case (or medical outcomes) while raising costs significantly.

If you had actually watched that video you would see an error made by a doctor, partially because of a procedural glitch as the unfortunate woman did not have a personal physician. It should not have happened but it is fantasy to think private companies are better. See below.

Yes, it was just paradise before Obamacare, were you blind or just in your 20s and did not care/see what was happening around you?. The ACA was the old GOP plan, it was not perfect at all, not close but SOMETHING had to be done and with the hyper-partisan situation, using the GOPs exiting plan was a path forward. Why do I care if I don't live in the US? A very close personal friend, a young man with an engineering PhD and self-employment, married with two young kids died because an insurance company was able to suspend his coverage in the middle of therapy on a technicality. All a few years before the ACA. He should have gone to Mexico, bought the drugs for cash and self-administered in a Cancun hotel room (as many Americans did) however he got stubborn. The American Medical Association (AMA) in recent decades appears to be focused more on maximizing industry profits rather than focusing on health care effectiveness.

There are some herbs and foreign medications that are lower cost, have fewer side effects, and perform better that what big pharma provides. A lot of big pharma’s products are derivatives of basic herbs. They create these derivatives so they can patent them and charge a high price.

The FDA makes many foreign produced drugs illegal for sale in The U.S., effectively eliminating competition. Some of these illegal drugs apparently perform better the U.S. versions.

The AMA vigorously goes after alternative treatments in part because these treatments are competition to their members. Some alternative treatments are dangerous and should be taken off the market.

Another problem was that there was consumer resistance to the price of pharmaceuticals. They must have realized a third party payer system was necessary to maximize industry profits.

The ACA was eventually delivered. Can you you believe how much that baby eats!
