Net neutrality

Everyone who voted for Republicans is responsible for this. The Republicans have pushed for years to do away with net neutrality. The Democrats held it off. If you voted Republican you deserve exactly what your going to get, but the rest of us did not deserve this. It's a decision that will be virtually impossible to reverse. If however implementation can be stalled in the Courts for three years until 2021, then an incoming Democrat administration could put on the brakes.

"Telecoms firms, however, are largely against [net neutrality] because of the additional restrictions it places on them."
translation -- Telecoms firms are largely against net neutrality because of the additional revenue it causes them to forego.

And just exactly, Mr. Republican, where do you think that additional revenue will come from? And will you be able to say no thank you? Yes. Exactly the same way you tell your cable provider, no thank you, I'm happy with just the networks, PBS and the shopping and religion channels!

Look at the bright side.Basically this was done by executive order so it can be reversed in 2021.
I disagree. Once this is fully implemented it will become politically extremely difficult to undo. The only way to stop it is to stall it in the courts until a new Democrat administration is in place.

How is less government control fascist?
Look up the definitions of fascism and "corporatism" . Read! These two -isms are related but not exactly synonymous, and the definitions tend to be loose and malleable. The first Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is one type of "Government Control". Is that a good type of control, or a bad type, in your opinion?

You should look up the definition of fascism up, you imbecile. You obviously don't know the meaning. Read, piezoe, read.

And, you did not mention corporatism in the post I commented on.

This is a totally bogus issue masked by an appealing name, "Net Neutrality." Now the democrats are claiming the internet was a "public utility" but now is controlled by monopolists, thanks to the evil Trump.

If the internet was a public utility, how were monopolists like Google, FB, Twitter etc able to block websites or posters whose politics they disagreed with? If that was an example of "neutrality," then I'm all for changing the rules. I actually think internet monopolists should be treated more or less as public utilities, eg required to offer their platforms to anyone not engaged in law breaking. Allowing a small group of billionaire progs in silicon valley to determine what is acceptable internet discourse is the antithesis of "neutrality" yet that is what we got under Obama.

The internet operators like VZ and T should be prohibited from viewpoint discrimination as well. Repealing net neutrality has nothing to do with that however. It is just a battle over who pays the cost for streaming services between two rival groups of mega-corps. IOW the spoils of politics.

I may have to go full Antifa on this issue. It's naive to think that Comcast, AT&T and Verizon are going to give up their stranglehold on the market. We are on our way to corporations censoring content, all with government approval. It is and always has been a symbionic relationship between them. It'll start small at first. You'll see them create new billing. They'll tell us that we were paying for this all along and they just bundled it all together. How sweet of them. They'll break it all down, and then we'll see the charges go up a little in each section. Speed will be optional too. Hey, we won't actually censor this site we don't want you to see, but you'll pay more of you want the page to load before your next birthday. Deregulation, it worked so well in the financial market. Self governance. Yeah, they have proven themselves to be so trustworthy. All corporate America has done is bankrupt the entire fucking world, and who bailed their asses out? The people they fucked of course, all with an extra bonus, and with a bunch of hand wringing politicians facilitating the deal. No way is this good for the average consumer in the long run. If you see and old white guy at the next Antifa riot, that might be me.
