Need to upgrade or replace trading computer!

Basically I'm looking between the Intel and the AMD on a motherboard with 4 PCI Express slots like the GA-890FXA-UD5 (AMD)

as mentioned or the GA-X58A-UD5 (intel)

Thing I see now is the Intel i7 870k core is much faster it seems than the 6 core AMD 1090T, the 875k replaces the 870 I would guess?

The Intel has the unlock to go over 3.5Ghz and the AMD can as well, but the Intel scores better in most tests.

Powersupply will be 1000watts from your responses and future adds,

Case - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3424772&CatId=1510

Case and board have space for up to 4 DVI vid cards or going to 2 display port cards w/6ports instead, looking at the ATI Radeon HD 5870's for display ports.

4 $175 cards or 2 $300 cards.

I have a 4 display system from EMC that I use for trading and video editing. Never had a hiccup. To each his own... LOL

4 x $50 Nvidia Quadro NVS 295 cards from eBay... just make sure they come with 2 DVI-DP adapters for each card.

Sweet, 650w will do it?

Intel seems like board will be more and the processor will be more, suprised to see the i7 Intel 875 ahead of the AMD 6 core 1090T. Sure the AMD 1090T will be more than adequete for what I need though, may just go that route.

Intel is the only way to go. The 875 is a great processor

You need a big PSU only if you are going to run high-performance video cards. 650W is enough for fanless, workstation cards. If you run gamer cards, they will have recommended PSU minimums posted in their specs.
