This is why I prefer trend following. No need to guess what the market is going to do, just figure out what it is doing now and respond appropriately. I miss the tops and bottoms but I also avoid the false turning points.

You are right. Many are going TF. I think partly of HFT. You can do TF with monthly data as many funds do that. Even Mike Harris, a short-term trader, is now talking about monthly price patterns for absolute momentum (TF) in this interesting post.
