Need help configuring Dell T-5810 Workstation

I have T-7500 & it crapped on me 3 months after a warranty of 5 years expired so need a back up system & hence going for a cheaper CPU & RAM which would be just as good as T-7500.

New systems come with 3 years Hardware warranty + support + Accidental damage and you can renew warranty for another 2 years which gives me peace of mind being not a pro on hardware. Last new T-7500 lasted for 5 years without any major issue.

Also new system is now on sale with almost 45% discount.

As ofthomas said, I also have lots of tick data & would like to add more & just like him I clone my HDDs & hence lots of TBs.

I wish someone could answer my other questions.

Also could I use AMD ATI FirePro W4100 2GB with my old FirePro 2460 512 MB DDR3 ? Both gives me 4 mini DP to hook up 4 monitors. I am getting W4100 with new system for only $50.0 & that is why I am asking this question & what about drivers for two different GPUs ?

am an NVIDIA guy, but the concept should be the same across it all...

can you install an X16 card in a X4 ... yes (I assume both slots are X16 format but one is X4 bandwidth)... performance might suffer a bit... so W4100 => x16 full bw for your main display... the older card is PCI2.1, and the system is 3.0 so you will get high BW per lane, which means performance impact shouldnt be great.. but tbh, you shouldnt notice it either way... just dont play movies in that screen?

can you have drivers for two different GPU's? yes... that has never been an issue, just make sure you know which one is your primary.

As for driver issue for different video cards... In your case likely they will all work together from the same driver. You might check AMD to verify.
