Need advice on new laptop

Quote from Spunky:

1. A new device, "solid-state drive" or SSD, will replace the traditional hard disk with a faster, less fragile drive made of flash memory chips like those used in digital cameras.

3. More laptops will be using light-emitting diodes, or LEDs, to light up their screens, a method that promises to be both brighter and less power-hungry.

Are these two technologies available yet?

I am looking for a lightweight laptop with a 12" screen and long battery life. Recommendations?

I was going through Dell's website yesterday, one of the laptops had the Solid State Hard Drive as an option, it was 500 hundred and something dollars extra for a 32 gig drive.

It can run WindowsXP too nowadays, right?

Also, would be nice to have the capability to connect multiple external monitors. Is this even possible?

I called Gateway and got a remanufactured 17", 2gig mem, 100gig HD, and brand new Intel 2.1 GHZ duo core chip set.
$750 shipped, with 1 yr warranty.

Big screen, LOTS of SPEED from the chips, and a DVI output for another monitor.

iow: 4gigs mem, 2ghz chip speed duo core, preferrably INTEL, and a 120 gig HD. Minimal.
Like a gamers pkg.
imho
