Don't get 1 monitor, I have a total of 7, looking to add another 4 to 8 soon.

I have a theory that people's trading income is directly proportionate to the number of monitors they use. According to this, you make 4 million/year from trading

IF you don't make 4 million/year, then you have too many monitors.

Any recommendations for a nice new monitor?

you are a student, right?
while you figure it all out, cruise by the nearest full service thrift store and pick up an old abandoned dell flatscreen or something like it for 8 - 14 dollars, cables, plugs and all. Steer clear of transformers that gateways need if you can, just more crap to fok with.
plug that puppy into your laptop, and then continue searching for your real monitor choice with a somewhat eased situation.
It's always good to have an old trash monitor around if you need it in a pinch.
