NDA for strategy automation

Hello ETers,

I have a question:

Lets say one reveals the details of a strategy to a programmer, who has signed a Non Disclosure Agreement, for automation purposes. If the programmer goes ahead and uses the strategy for his personal trading, how can one prove this?

if the guy intends to break the nda, then it's pretty much worthless. be very hard to prove anything.

find someone you can trust, or roll your own.

If NDA's are worthless, why are they so commonly used?

How can one get his trading automated without revealing the strategy?
