National Poverty Rate - A National Shame

Quote from Scataphagos:

Well, we can't "cut taxes for everyone"... as about 1/2 of the US population pays zero or near-zero Federal income tax.

The answer, however, IS "lower taxes", including on business ... to encourage foreign employers to build their products here and employ American workers.

Of course that necessitates smaller government.... unlikely to have that until after the collapse/revolution.

If a foreign corporation has operations here in the U.S., do they pay corporate income taxes on their profits to the U.S. or to their own country where they are headquartered?

Why should a foreign company come to the U.S. when they can employ their own citizens. France and other European countries have free health insurance for their citizens, paid from income taxes. If a French company comes to the U.S., they would have to offer health insurance to the employees, and that is very costly here. Anyhow, it's cheaper for a company to build products in China and other low cost countries. Why do you think American companies outsource jobs to other countries. Who in the U.S. or Europe would work for $1 per hour with no benefits?

Quote from Scataphagos:

The less "Europe-like" we are, the better.

I was wondering how many fewer poor we'd have if they got even much less from the government... the bigger the government check, the less incentive there is to work to improve one's financial status.

What is wrong with Europe? I go there every summer and the cities of Europe are amazing with their splendid architecture, the history, the museums, and beautiful women. Beautiful beaches and mountains as well.

Check out these pics from one the most beautiful places in the world that I have been to, Positano, Italy...
