When Clinton left office we had a balanced budget and 5.7 trillion in debt.The Republicans came along with the unfunded bush tax cuts,unfunded wars,unfunded medicare,increasing the defense budget from 300 billion to 700 billion,unfunded government growth with all the new unfunded federal homeland security departments and federal employees etc before leaving with a 1.2 trillion dollar budget deficet
